Going Into The Holiday Season, Solomon Is Happy To Contribute And Give Back | Solomon Corporation

October 20, 2014

The holiday season means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. For some, it isn’t truly the holiday season until the radio stations switch over to playing Christmas music and there are live tree sales in the parking lots of the local churches and grocery stores. For others, the beginning of the holiday season starts when those pumpkin spice lattes show back up at Starbucks. Whatever your personal benchmark is, the start of the holiday seasons always means one thing: a time to be thankful for what we have, and an opportunity to give back to our community and the people around us.

At Solomon Corporation, supporting our community is one of our Corporate Values. We seek to find ways to give back to our community in ways both big and small throughout the year. We make it a point to help our community grow and prosper by providing good employment opportunities, and encouraging our employees to be active in the community through ongoing service opportunities through our standing service team. We respect the rights of our neighbors, and take pride in supporting local charities and community causes. We also know that part of supporting the community is being a good steward of the environment, and so we take environmental laws and regulations very seriously.

While we believe in giving back to our community every month of the year-including sponsoring four yearly blood drives, one of which is coming up November 18th and 19th-we also know that there’s no better time to give a little something back than around the holidays. That’s why we’re doing a lot of things this year to help support the community that supports us.

For Halloween, kids from the Solomon Schools can safely trick-or-treat through our offices. Employees decorate for the proper spooky ambiance, and hand out candy and treats to all the kids. In November we’ll be doing a food drive to benefit the Salina Rescue Mission. In addition to financial support from Solomon Corporation, our employees volunteer their time by working at local grocery stores on the weekends handing out bags with a list of suggested items for shoppers to buy and donate. And in December, Solomon Corporation and our employees are will be working with Catholic Charities to help package and wrap gifts for 180 adopted families this year. We also host a food drive in November for the Rescue Mission. Last year, Solomon Corporation employees filled a whole truck with boxes of donated non-perishables.

Here at Solomon Corporation, we know we’re nothing without our motivated employees, our wonderful customers, and the community that supports us. That’s why we participate in community events each year and encourage our employees to get involved where they are able. We enjoy hosting a company Christmas party and banquet each December, as well as supporting industry organizations like the National Sisterhood United for Journeymen Linemen(NSUJL) and events like the International Lineman’s Rodeo, among many others all year long.
